I always feel a sense of belonging when I travel to the North of England. I grew up here and the brand has its roots in the silk industry in the region. Few mills survive today, but the landscape is in many ways unchanged. So it was a total joy to travel to Yorkshire for our press day.

Middleton Lodge estate has a fairytale quality in Winter. From the original Georgian Coach House built in 1780, James and Becky Allison, who live here with their two daughters, Poppy and Daisy, have created an enchanting hotel in harmony with the wilderness. James sourced stone from the local quarry to build the Fig House and new bedrooms. Becky, an architect has designed generous rooms which soulfully combine antiques with the contemporary. Beds are heavenly and bathrooms full of elegant drama.
But it’s the relaxed feel which is so winning. No stuffy reception or rules, afternoon tea with homemade cakes or whatever you fancy (champagne), kids romping in the gardens. It’s a true idyll.

To be here with friends is a treat to be savoured. Talk, eat, have a treatment and repeat. Next year comes a new spa building and outdoor heated pool. We can't wait.
